ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh Trade Union Federation (APTUF) has decided to defer its phase-wise democratic movement which was scheduled to start with a peaceful dharna on October 4. The decision to this effect was taken after the Federation had a meeting with the Secretary, Labour & Employment, Commissioner (Labour) and Labour Officer at the Secretary’s office chamber recently. “During the meeting, they (officers) informed us that they are taking our demands seriously. And regarding the removal of APEDA Chairman from his post, the matter has already been processed on file for the appropriate decision of the authority,” APTUF general secretary Kenkar Yomcha said.

Regarding the demand for enhancement of wages of contingency/casual employees by Rs 3000, the APTUF leader said that the chief minister has already announced an increase of Rs 2000. He, however, said that APTUF has given 45 days time to the state government to fulfill all its demands. “If they fail to fulfill even a single demand we will resume our democratic movement after 45 days,” he warned. APTUF’s other demands include enhancement of grade pay of W/C employees, including W/C computer operators from Rs 1900 to Rs 2400, creation of one-time W/C post in every engineering department, exclusion of MTS post from APSSB interview and exams and to divide the total number of posts by 50:50 basis between fresh candidates and working employees. Regularization of services of contingency/casual workers who have already completed 15 years and above, to not appoint elected leaders or non Trade Union leaders as Chairman of Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB & OCWWB), and implementation of statutory benefits for the registered workers of APB&OCWWB.
