ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) has demanded that the State Government should lift the restriction of public entry into the Civil Secretariat, punish the police officials who are accused for torturing youths during the recent bandh called by the All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) and make public data on COVID-19 fund usage.

Addressing mediapersons at the press club here on Wednesday, APYC president Tarh Jonny said, "AYPC condemns the barbaric act of the BJP Government in the State under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu in strong terms" while placing its three-point demands.

He said that citing of COVID-19 for regular imposition of restriction order of public entry at the Civil Secretary during peak working months is a lame excuse by the Government, and claimed that the Government is running inside closed-door meetings with rich tycoons.

"The closed-door meetings with rich people symbolize that the present BJP Government is for a few selected rich people, instead of being a people-friendly Government," he said.

While condemning the brutal assault on youths who were arrested during the 36-hour capital bandh called by ANYA, he demanded immediate action against those police personnel responsible for assaulting innocent youths.

He said that such an act of responsible police personnel over innocent youth is the act of the Government to create fear to silence the voice of youths.

"Police personnel have come down on streets harming innocent youths, leading to severe physical damage, instead of depending/protecting public safety," he added

He accused the Government of misappropriating funds that provided in the form of donations from various sections of society during the COVID-19 pandemic and demanded a white paper from the Government, mentioning names of authorized distributors/suppliers.

He claimed that the general public has never received a single piece of free face mask or hand sanitizer, contradicting the statement of the government of sanctioning crores of rupees for provision of face masks and hand sanitizers.

Meanwhile, APYC general secretary Taba Sarbang said, "The announcements made regarding the Budget by Union Minister (Law & Justice) Kiren Rijiju in his recent press briefing is eyewash."

He added, "The Union Minister has been a mute spectator on many State-related issues such as the border issue with China and neighboring Assam, and abduction of the State's youths by the Chinese PLA. But, now fear of losing his seat has forced him to come down."
