Arunachal Pradesh Youths to attend UN meet

ITANAGAR: Two Arunachalee students – Ajeet Pordung and Jimmy Sonam – will be representing India in the Asia Youth International Model United Nations (AYIMUN) to be held February 15 to 18 in Malaysia. Ajeet is a law student in Delhi University and founder and chairman of Tassar Education and Charitable Trust, an NGO which provides scholarships to Northeast students for UPSC coaching in Delhi. Jimmy is a research scholar (Mphil) at Rajiv Gandhi University Rono Hills (Itanagar). Both are from East Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh.

Nearly 14,153 delegates from 165 countries including India are attending the four-day seminar in Kaula Lumpur.

The event is being organised by International Global Network and is aimed to provide a platform for young future diplomats to encourage themselves in understanding global issues and its policies, debate and share perspectives among participants from different backgrounds and different ethnicities.

The ultimate goal of AYIMUN is to empower youth awareness on current international relations and issues. Participants can directly represent their assigned countries as official delegate and can feel the atmosphere of an United Nations conference.
