ITANAGAR: The second general body meeting of Arunachal Shiksha Vikas Samiti (ASVS) was held at Abotani Vidya Niketan, Pachin in Naharlagun on Monday. Founded on November 18, 1994 as the State chapter of Vidya Bharati Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan (VBABSS), New Delhi, ASVS works in the field of providing value-based nationalistic education through a chain of schools across the State.Informing this daily, ASVS general secretary Gyamar Kassung said that the general body meeting also finalized the year-long celebrations of silver jubilee year of ASVS with various programmes starting from August 2019.
“Due attention and efforts shall be made for enhancing the infrastructure capacities of the schools as well as their quality improvement,” Kassung said adding that at present, the Samiti is running 27 schools including 9 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas in Siang and East Siang districts.
National secretary Vidya Bharati Brahmaji Rao also attended the general body meeting.
The meeting was attended by its founder members Tai Tagak, all executive committee members, office bearers of the schools managing committees and heads of affiliated schools from all across the State.
Eminent educationist and former Director of Elementary Education (DEE), Bodong Yirang was unanimously re-elected as the president of ASVS for a second tenure of three years in the meeting.
