Arunachal: Tirap Jailbreak Accused Nabbed By Assam Rifles

ITANAGAR: Rocksen Homchha, a hard-core NSCN cadre and one of the Tirap jailbreak suspects, was captured in the early hours of April 3 by Assam Rifles soldiers and a combined squad of CRPF, IRBn, and STF.

Once DC Tirap Hento Karga provided information that led to the arrest of the suspect, a manhunt was started by the combined operation team of the Tirap police, 6 Assam Rifles, 36Bn CRPF, IRBn, and STF, which was led by SP Tirap Kardak Riba.

Rocksan Humcha was successfully captured by the combined security force in a deep jungle while armed with AK-47 rifles in the Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh.

Hento Karga, the deputy commissioner for Tirap, thanked the joint operation team for their success in capturing of the cadre, who is also the murderer of IRBn soldiers and martyr Wangniam Bosai. According to him, similar situations shouldn't occur anytime soon, and security personnel at jails would need to be more vigilant in the performance of their responsibilities.

On 26 March, two militants from the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang), NSCN-K, broke out of the Khonsa jail in the Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh.

In an altercation with the militants as they attempted to stop them from departing, two police constables were gravely hurt. Wangnyien Bosai, one of the two injured police officers, passed away en route to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh.

The two NSCN (K) militants, named as self-styled privates Rocksen Homchha and Tipu Kitnya, reportedly engaged in a violent altercation with the two constables who were on duty at the jail's premises at the time.

The two extremists reportedly overpowered the two prison guards and stole their service guns before fleeing the area.
