ITANAGAR : The Centre is planning to give maximum telecommunication connectivity to Arunachal Pradesh with over 2,000 additional mobile towers, in addition to the approved 980 4G mobile towers, government officials said here on Tuesday. The project for installing 980 4G mobile towers, is being implemented by Bharti Hexacom Ltd. State Information Technology and Communication (IT&C) Minister Wangki Lowang along with Arunachal East Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao, IT&C chairman Doni Nich in a meeting with Union Information Technology and Communication Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday discussed several issue relating to IT&C sector in the state.

The meeting gave a major boost to IT&C of Arunachal Pradesh, Vaishnaw said adding, that the Centre is planning to provide maximum telecommunication connectivity, considering the strategic importance of the state. Reiterating to approve expansion of additional state wide area network (SWAN), he directed the officers of the ministry to expedite the approval process.

Responding to a plea from Lowang to waive off the e-office licensing costs, the Union Minister assured for special rate to NE states. When the issue of low bandwidth of VSAT projects implemented under BharatNet by BSNL was raised, Vaishnaw assured to take up the matter with the Department of Space in consultation with the ministry concerned. State IT&C secretary Anirudh S Singh, IT director Neelam Yapin Tana, joint director Hano Takka, assistant director Namgey Wangmu also attended the meeting.
