Itanagar: Maintaining their winning spree, Arunachalee karatekas won 17 medals in Karate Association of India (KAI) Sub-Junior and Senior National Karate Championships (SNKCs)-2019 which concluded at Delhi’s Talkatra Stadium on Wednesday, according to Karate Association of India (KAI) president Shihan Likha Tara.
The senior team secured 3rd rank in national level with eight medals -Johny Mangkhiya (68kg), Raja Yangfo (-60kg), Bamang yakum, Goda Asha, Mesom Singhi, Lokam Maya and Bamang Yamu (team kumite female) – all Gold and Sumpi Chege (+68) – Silver.
The Sub Juniors team won nine medals to secure 5th rank in national level with Anyee Sonam (11yr, -35kg), Aman Dui (11yr, +35kg) & Deepak Jomoh (13yr, -45kg) – all Gold; Mekhiya Sono (13yr,-45kg) – Silver; Menam Kamsar (8-yr, individual kata), Risen Yun (10-yr,-30kg), Jida Dargung (12-yr,-35kg), Guma Lingram (12-yr,-40kg) & Bhai Sangyu (13-yr,-45kg) – all Bronze, Shihan Tara added.
In all 43 state karatekas took part in the event under the supervision of Shihan Tara, KAI referee commission member-cum-Arunachal Karate Do Association (AKA) general secretary Bulang Marik and AKA technical director-cum-coach Deven Sharma.
