ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh's COVID-19 tally rose to 11,007 on Wednesday as 222 more people tested positive for the infection, while one fresh fatality pushed the State's coronavirus toll tally to 20, said State Surveillance Officer Dr Lobsang Jampa.

Arunachal Pradesh now has 3,022 active coronavirus cases. As many as 189 more persons have been cured of the disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 7,965. The recovery rate among the COVID-19 patients in the State stands at 72.36 per cent.

On the COVID-19 related casualty on Wednesday, Dr Jampa said, "A 47-year-old junior engineer suffering from hypertension died at the Chimpu-based COVID-19 hospital near Itanagar. The patient, who hailed from Kanubari in Longding district, had tested positive for the infection on September 25," said Dr Jampa.

Of the fresh cases, 90 were reported from the Capital Complex region; 28 from Changlang; 23 from West Siang; 16 each from East Siang and Tirap; nine from Lower Subansiri; eight from Leparada; six from Lower Dibang Valley; five from Upper Siang; four each from Upper Subansiri and Namsai; three each from Papumpare, West Kameng and Lower Siang; two from Lohit; and one each from Tawang and Longding districts.

Among the new patients are three Army men, and an official of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

The Capital Complex region comprising the areas of Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa — has the highest number of active cases at 1,584, followed by West Siang (243), Papumpare (161) and Changlang (155) districts.

A total of 2,63,242 samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far, including 2,213 on Tuesday, added Dr Jampa.
