Arunachal's Kharsang Police Station features in the 'Top 10 Police Stations of the Country'

Itanagar: A very proud moment for the Northeastern region as two of its Police Stations are featured in the top 10 police stations of the year given by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Arunachal Pradesh's Kharsang police station in Changlang district is ranked as the third-best in the country.

Manipur's Nongpok Sekmai police station of Thoubal district tops the list and is ranked first. The second-best police station was the All Women Police Station of Sooramangalam in Tamil Nadu.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah presented the awards to the winners virtually during the inaugural function of the Annual DGPs/ IGPs conference, 2020. Arunachal's DGP, RP Upadhyay attended the conference. The trophies were sent to the respective police stations before the conference for presentation in the inaugural ceremony.

In a press release by the Arunachal Pradesh Police, it said that the Police Station was established in the year 1990. "Established in the year 1990, the Kharsang police station under the leadership of Inspector KM Das stood as one of the best in the MHA's parameters of survey," it said.

The annual survey was conducted by MHA in the month of October, 20207. The survey is based upon the data of Crime Record Bureau in respect to property offences, crimes against weaker sections, crimes against women, unidentified dead persons, and missing persons.

It also includes the evaluation of the standards of the service delivered and the techniques used by the police stations for the improvement in policing. It also checked how well-maintained the police station is and also, the feedback of the citizens.

The survey includes identification and evaluation of the standard of service delivery and techniques of improvement in policing, besides the maintenance of police station and approachability and citizen's feedback.

The survey was conducted under challenging conditions by MHA due to the ongoing pandemic.
