KHONSA: The Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles along with Lazu Police on Monday, apprehended two Myanmar nationalist NSCN (K-YA) cadres in a joint operation.

The team cordoned the suspected Jhum hut and successfully apprehend two hardcore NSCN (K-YA) militants along with the recovery of a huge quantity of weapons, ammunition, miscellaneous items and other warlike stores.

Two-point 32 mm pistol, one 1500 gram IED, 13 point 32 mm pistol live ammunition, five 7 point 62 mm AK 47 and one 9 mm pistol live ammunition along with some miscellaneous items like ration, clothing and NSCN documents were also recovered from the insurgents.

The two hardcore NCSN (K-YA) active insurgents have been identified as self-styled sergeant Major Komthok Ngongpa (37) resident of Longbo (Myanmar), and self-styled private Chungaung (27) from Pannem (Myanmar).

During the in spot interrogation, cadres revealed that both of them are active cadres of NSCN (K-YA) and were tasked BY self-styled lieutenant Colonel Thokwang Hodong, who is a resident of Lazu village.
