Awareness programme on drug abuse organized in Bordumsa

BORDUMSA: The Ponthai Welfare Society of Bordumsa in Changlang district, in collaboration with the District administration, organized an awareness programme on drug abuse and illicit trafficking at the government Secondary school, Wagon Ponthai here on Sunday.

Many NGOs take part in it, Women from the different villages of Bordumsa Subdivision, TWWS Kharsang, Women Against Social Evils (WASE) from East Siang district, leaders, ZPM Bordumsa, Bisa Yun Singpho Psycho Social Counselor, Gaon Buras, Public leader are present in the awareness programme.

Addressing the Woman NGOs and Public gathering, WASE president Yamik Dulom Darang spoke about the types of drugs and their ill effects on society and also demonstrate the material that women should have for their self-defence.

While WASE Secretary Jaya T Moyong said that the increasing number of drug users in Arunachal, especially among the youths, poses a grave danger to society, the state, and the country.

She also spoke during her speech that the WASE team is always there to provide all kinds of moral & technical support in the fight against Drugs.

TWWS President Korong Longri appealed to the Villages to avoid drugs and live a meaningful life. And running a temporary De-addiction Center in Wagon Ponthai village will surely help our people to come up from the Drug she added.

BMM President Pisi Lu Singpho said they have been working against Drugs for a long time back and still they are working on it and they have faced so many difficulties in their journey but they are always ready to give their helping hand for the noble cause.

Meanwhile, Khachang Maio who is a Zila Parishad member of Bordumsa also spoke out against Drugs. He ensured to help in every possible way the Organizations that are fighting against Drugs.

"My people, my society is more important than my politics," he added.

Psychologist Bisa Yun Singpho dwelt on the ways to overcome drug abuse and spoke about rehabilitation and treatment of drug addicts.
