ITANAGAR: The state BJP filed complaints for cheating and forgery against its own nine-BJP Zilla Parishad Members (ZPM) from Papumpare district to disqualify their membership from Panchayat Raj. Speaking to the media, state BJP spokesperson Techi Necha informed that, following the directives from the state BJP president, he has filed the official complaint before the Member Secretary cum ADC-Yupia on Thursday, demanding the necessary action to disqualify the ZPM for cheating and forgery.

Techi Necha informed that expelled ZPMs claimed that they have merged with the People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA), but as per the Arunachal Pradesh Local Authorities Prohibition of Defection Act 2003, at least 1/3 of the members needed for the merger whereas they are only nine out of 15 members, asserted the Spokesperson. He also stated that members have misled the authority to change the existing Zilla Parishad Chairperson (ZPC), Papumpare, by cheating and forgery. It has been proven that they submitted the wrong documents regarding the merger, as the PPA president himself claimed that no such merger has taken place with PPA. Techi Necha also informed that, besides the complaint to Member Secretary cum ADC-Yupia, the State BJP will also file the legal petition in District Court for legal action against the defected ZPMs. They have to be disqualified from their membership, and there should be a by-election.
