Capital Police Begin Patrolling in Senki View Area, Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: Capital Police has began patrolling in Senki View area, particularly the intake point of water treatment plant (WTP) located on the bank of Senki River on receipt of several complaints that hundreds of youths venture into upstream areas of Senki River during sunny days for partying, taking bath using detergent and throwing garbage resulting in contamination of the drinking water source.

The patrolling begun since Saturday after Capital Complex district magistrate issued an order to that effect, police sources informed here on Monday.

The sources added that youth have been creating a nuisance as complained by local dwellers.

Several accidents were reported in the past due to careless and the youth going into deep water which compelled the DM to issue the order under CrPc 144 prohibiting all unwanted activities in the greater public interest, the sources said.

However, a few youths found near intake point on Saturday have explained the sensitivity of the intake point which serves as a drinking water feeder for the capital city dwellers, the sources said.

Moreover, the PH&WS department on several occasions had also lodged complaints about the nuisance created by the visitors. But, with this order all unwanted activities will be prohibited, the sources added.
