ITANAGAR: The Capital Complex Sora Welfare Society (CCSWS) has demanded that Moki Loyi, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of West Siang be immediately placed under suspension for physically assaulting Pagrik Sora, who is serving as a senior teacher at the Government High Secondary School.

Addressing to media persons at the Press Club here, CCSWS president Goge Sora said, "We are comelled to address this press conference because the DC had provided false statement through social media that Pagrik Sora had caused obstruction to an on-duty officer, misbehaved and carried a machete (dao) along with him during the incident.

Regarding the issue, the CCSWS has submitted a representation to Chief Secretary (CS).

Further, Goge informed that through the help of Sessions Court, an FIR is registered against the DC at Police Station (PS), West Siang, Aalo. The FIR (First Information Report) was filed after an unexplained delay of four days from the date it was submitted as the FIR was against high level officer.

Informing that the incident took place at the New Market area in Aalo on March 21, Sora added that the West Siang DC had physically assaulted Pagrik Sora without any provocation and fault of Sora; and as a result of the assault Sora sustained several injuries. Presently, Pagrik is under medical treatment at a hospital in Dibrugarh (Assam).

Terming the action as a "criminal act", Goge said that "the DC had misused his official power by assaulting Pagrik Sora over a petty issue of his vehicle being parked on the roadside. Therefore, besides demanding the suspension or transfer of the DC so as to ensure impartial investigation of the case, we demand for a departmental proceeding too to be initiated against him for gross misconduct as per CSS rules and punished adequately."
