ITANAGAR: A cloudburst followed by torrential rain and hailstorm created havoc at Bomdila, the headquarters of West Kameng district on Saturday. The rain lashed the township for over an hour, resulting in chocking of drains and spreading of debris all around. The main road and the link roads of the township were flooded and rendered useless for vehicular movement during the rainstorm.
Besides a few residential quarters, the boundary wall of the Deputy Commissioner’s bungalow was partially damaged by the gushing slush of mud.
However, with the break in the downpour, restoration works are being undertaken. It is expected to take a few days to clear the chocked drains and remove all the debris which has accumulated in the township, official sources from Bomdila said.
