ITANAGAR: The Mahila Morcha of the state unit of the BJP on Monday organized a community meal with the members of the Puroik community to mark the celebration of social justice week. BJP Mahila Morcha state unit president Higio Aruni, while addressing the occasion, said that the main objective of the community meals with the Puroiks was to interact with them and know the ground reality of the community.

Higio Aruni informed that the central government as well as the state government have launched a lot of schemes for the welfare of the people. Aruni added that the scheme, namely the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, is a saving scheme by the Centre aimed at the betterment of girl children. It was launched to help parents build a fund for the higher education and other expenses of their girl child, and another scheme, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), is a centrally sponsored scheme under which cash amounts are being provided directly into the bank or post office accounts of pregnant and lactating mothers.

She urged upon the community members to avail such benefits from the government. BJP state secretary Tiring Tiri highlighted various programmes of the week-long event, which started on April 6 last and would culminate on April 14 next. He urged the Puroik community to attend all the programmes of the BJP to know more about the various programmes and policies of the government.
