ITANAGAR: At least 247 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh pushing the total caseload in the northeastern State to 30,247, a senior health official said here on Thursday.
The death toll in the frontier State rose to 128 with two more persons from Lohit and Lower Subansiri district succumbing to the infection on Wednesday, the official said.
A 37-year-old lady from Lohit district died at the Dedicated Covid Hospital (DCH) at Pasighat in East Siang district on Wednesday due to Covid Pneumonia and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, while a man of 41 years age from Lower Subansiri died at a dedicated Covid health Center (DCHC) at Ziro in the district on Wednesday, State Surveillance officer Dr Lobsang Jampa said.
The man died due to COVID Pneumonia with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, the official said.
Changlang district recorded the highest number of fresh cases with 48, followed by the Capital Complex Region (44), East Kameng (20), Lower Dibang Valley (18), East Siang and Kra Daadi at 13 each, Lower Subansiri and Namsai at 12 each and Upper Siang (10).
Nine new cases were also reported from Upper Subansiri, eight from Longding, seven each from Papumpare and West Kameng, six from Lohit, four from Kurung Kumey, three each from Tawang, Tirap and Lower Siang, two each from Leparada and West Siang and one each from Pakke Kessang, Kamle and Anjaw district respectively. Of the fresh cases 237 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 3 through RT-PCR and 7 through TrueNat method, the SSO said adding, 130 people have symptoms.
The active cases in the State now stand at 3,271, he said. As many as 279 patients recovered from the disease on Wednesday taking the number of recoveries in the state to 26,848, Jampa said.
The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the State stands at 88.76 per cent while the active percentage stands at 10.81 and the positivity rate at 4.21 per cent, he said.
The Capital Complex Region - comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas - has the highest number of active cases at 563, followed by Changlang (350), West Kameng (239), Tawang (235), Lohit (208) and Namsai at 205 cases.
Altogether, 6,51,115 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the State so far, including 5,866 on Wednesday, Jampa said.
State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung said that a total of 4,01,828 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine doses so far in the State since the inoculation drive began in January.
The State as of Wednesday has a total of 1,22,420 vaccine doses available including, 1,16,780 supplied from the Centre and 5,640 purchased by the state government from Serum Institute of India, Dr Padung added.
