ITANAGAR: Three Hundred and five (305) more people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Arunachal Pradesh, pushing the virus tally in the northeastern state to 48,565, a senior health official said here on Tuesday.

The death toll in the state rose to 234 with three more persons, including two women, succumbed to the infection in the past two days, the official said.

Both the women with comorbidities, died while undergoing treatment at medical facilities while a person died on way to the hospital, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

The Capital Complex Region continued to remain at the top of the list of fresh infections with 79 new cases, followed by Lower Subansiri (39), Papumpare (25), East Siang (18), Upper Subansiri and Lower Dibang Valley at 15 cases each, Lower Siang and Lohit at 13 each, Tawang and West Kameng reported 12 new cases each, the official said.

Nine fresh cases each were also reported from Tirap and Dibang Valley, seven each from Anjaw and Upper Siang, six each from West Siang and Changlang, five each from Kamle and Siang, three from East Kameng, two each from Leparada and Shi-Yomi and one each from Pakke Kessang, Longding and Kra Daadi district respectively, he said.

Among the fresh cases, 274 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 17 through RT-PCR and 14 by TrueNat methods, the official said adding, 135 people were symptomatic.

The active cases in the state now stand at 3,508, he said. As many as 469 patients were cured of the disease on Monday taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 44,823, Jampa said.
