ITANAGAR: At least 231 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, pushing the total caseload in the northeastern state to 32,923, a senior health official said here on Sunday.
The death toll in the frontier State remained at 159 with no fresh casualty reported in the past 24 hours, State Surveillance Officer Dr Lobsang Jampa said.
The Capital Complex Region reported the highest number of fresh cases at 56, followed by Changlang and East Siang at 27 each, West Kameng (26), East Kameng (16) and Lohit at 12.
Nine fresh cases each were also reported from Upper Siang, eight from Papumpare, seven from Upper Subansiri, six each from Lower Dibang Valley and Lower Subansiri, five from Tawang, four each from Namsai and Kra Daadi, three each from Lower Siang, Longding and Kurung Kumey, two from Leparada and one each from Anjaw, Dibang Valley, Kamle, Tirap, Shi-Yomi, Siang and Pakke Kessang districts respectively, the SSO said. Of the fresh cases 213 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 16 through RT-PCR and 2 via TrueNat methods, the official said adding, 87 people have symptoms. The active cases in the northeastern State now stand at 2,601, he said.
As many as 229 patients were cured of the disease on Saturday taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 30,163, Jampa said.
The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the State stands at 91.62 per cent while the active percentage stands at 7.90 and the positivity rate at 4.07 per cent, he said. The Capital Complex Region - comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas - has the highest number of active cases at 408, followed by West Kameng (299), Changlang (226), Namsai (186) and East Siang with 160 cases.
Altogether, 7,11,716 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the State so far, including 5,222 on Saturday, Jampa said.
State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung said that a total of 4,82,150 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine doses so far in the state since the inoculation drive began in January.
