ITANAGAR: The Covid-19 death toll in Arunachal Pradesh increased to 277 as a person succumbed to the infection at a health facility here on Friday, a senior Health official said here on Saturday.
The 60-year-old man from Tirap district died at the Dedicated Covid Hospital (DCH) at Chimpu here, due to acute respiratory distress syndrome with Covid Pneumonia, the official said.
Out of the total Covid-19 related deaths reported in the state so far, 188 are males and 89 females including, four pregnant women, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.
Of the total casualties, 19 were fully vaccinated while 45 were partially inoculated, the official said adding, the Capital Complex Region reported the highest casualties so far at 88, followed by Lohit (26), Changlang (22) and Tawang with 19 deaths.
The first Covid-19 casualty was reported in the state in June last year and a total of 56 persons died due to the infection last year from June to December, Jampa said adding, the highest number of casualties reported last year in the state include, September with 10 deaths followed by October (20) and November 17.
This year, a total of 221 persons died due to Covid-19 till Friday including, 58 during May, June (57), July (55), August (31) and September (16), the official said.
Meawhile, 54 fresh cases were reported in the state pushing the total caseload to 54,680, Jampa said.
As many as 43 more people recuperated from the disease on Friday, taking the number of recoveries in the northeastern state to 53,974, the SSO said.
