COVID-19 prevention: Arunachal Pradesh imposes curfew on Assam border

Arunachal Pradesh: Amid growing new coronavirus scare, the West Siang district administration has, reportedly, imposed a 48-hour-long curfew in the Border Check Gate area between Assam’s Dhemaji district and Arunachal Pradesh to prevent public entry through Ruskin gate. The prohibitory orders came into effect from Saturday. The administration has taken the decision to check the spread of COVID-19. However, medical emergency and other essential service duties are exempted from the purview of the curfew, said the notification served by the administration in the regard. The administration stated that there is an imminent threat and danger of spreading coronavirus in Ruksin area. Hence, it has decided to clamp down the restrictions. The West Siang administration also requested the Dhemaji administration in Assam to maintain proper coordination for making the curfew a success.
