ITANAGAR: Single-day recoveries surpassed fresh Covid-19 cases in Arunachal Pradesh, as 69 more people recuperated from the disease on Tuesday while 65 new infections were registered, said State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa here on Wednesday.

The new cases pushed the total caseload in the north-eastern State to 53,872. As many as 53,073 people have recovered from the disease thus far, he said.The recovery rate among Covid-19 patients improved marginally to 98.52 per cent from 98.51 per cent the previous day. The positivity rate currently stands at 1.63 per cent. The toll tally in the frontier State increased to 271 with one more fatality on Tuesday.

A 42-year-old man from Lower Subansiri district died at a hospital in the district due to acute respiratory distress syndrome with septic shock and renal failure, said the SSO.

Arunachal Pradesh currently has 528 active cases. The Capital Complex Region -- comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, -- has the highest number of active cases at 92, followed by Lower Subansiri (56), West Kameng (55), East Siang (49) and Taang at 42 cases.

As many as 11,01,817 samples have been tested for Covid-19 so far, including 3,983 on Tuesday, added Jampa.

According to State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung, a total of 10,51,141 people have been inoculated thus far in the State.
