ITANAGAR: The Covid-19 tally in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 65,313 on Sunday after 82 more people tested positive for the infection, the highest single-day spike this month, a senior health official informed here. The State recorded 80 Covid-19 cases on Saturday.

The death toll remained unchanged at 296, with no new fatality recorded in the past 24 hours, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

Among the new cases, 18 were reported from the Capital Complex Region, followed by 16 in Namsai, Lower Subansiri (9), East Siang (8), Changlang (6) five each in Upper Siang and Lohit and four in Anjaw district. Three new cases were also reported from Kra-Daadi, two from Papum Pare and one each from Kamle, Lower Dibang Valley, Pakke Kessang, Siang, Tawang and West Kameng district respectively, the official said.

Arunachal Pradesh currently has 363 active cases, while 64,654 people recuperated thus far, including 37 on Saturday, he said.

The recovery rate stands at 98.99 per cent, while the active rate stood at 0.55 per cent, Dr Jampa said.

The Capital Complex Region comprising, Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, has the highest number of active cases at 90, followed by Namsai at 54 cases, Lohit (37), Upper Siang (28), Lower Subansiri (27) and East Siang with 26 cases.
