ITANAGAR: Bomdila, the district headquarters of the West Kameng district in Arunachal Pradesh, plunged into darkens since Friday morning after the 132-KV transmission line reportedly snapped due to a cyclonic storm along with heavy rains.
Bomdila Electric Division executive engineer Phurpa Wangyal said that works are on and power supply is likely to be restored later on Saturday.
Power department chief engineer HR Bado said that one pole of the Balipara-Bomdila 132-KV transmission line was uprooted at Khupi. Staff has been engaged and early restoration is expected, he said.
Meanwhile, rain with thunder and windstorm lashed the Lohit district on Friday, leaving behind a trail of devastation and snapped power supply that blacked out district headquarters Tezu.
The cyclonic storm had hit hard all high transmission and low transmission lines of Tezu, PWD superintendent engineer complex, Hucheliang, Khoraliang and Demwe areas, said AE (power) K Chai Kri.
The roofs of several houses in Tezu-Sunpura area were reportedly damaged and trees uprooted at various locations and more damages in other pockets are expected.
