ITANAGAR: East Siang District DC Tayi Taggu Thursday called an emergency meeting and had a discussion on the Prime Minister Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) scheme and its incapability to perform the assigned task with the gram panchayat chairpersons of Bosing I and II and Bogong I and II villages and their 60 other members of PMAY (G) scheme beneficiaries who could not complete their houses at the provided time period even after the disbursement of the first installment of fund. The DC expressed his disappointment over the other 60 beneficiaries out of the 160 units targeted, who are yet to start construction of houses, even after the disbursement of funds that have already been credited into their respective accounts.

He informed that the PMAY (G) scheme is to meet up at a given time as per the order in which the scheme is directed. "It is the responsibility of every beneficiary under the scheme to complete their house in time so that all the beneficiaries could be covered under the scheme," the DC said, and he strictly directed the beneficiaries to complete their house by December next, or else they would be treated as defaulters under the scheme. The meeting was attended by the DRDA Project Director, T. Padung, BDO Omem Dai, and GPCs, along with the beneficiaries.
