ITANAGAR: Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju Sunday said that the central government has provided numerous people-centric and development packages to Arunachal Pradesh in all sectors and asked the implementing agencies to ensure that such facilities percolate down to the poor and needy people of the state. Inaugurating the mega legal service camp, Sewa Aapke Dwar, and PRO Bono Club at Jarbom Gamlin Law College at Jote, near here, the union minister said that late submission of utilization certificates due to various reasons is a stumbling block for additional grants by the Centre.
Rijiju also released decoding information through QR codes and the legal scape of DISHA and distributed relief welfare schemes to beneficiaries on the occasion. He said workshops and awareness camps held from time to time should accommodate the targeted group of people and generate much needed awareness about various initiatives being taken up by the government. “Free legal services should also be provided to people who cannot afford to pay fees,” he added.
Replying to a memorandum submitted by the law college fraternity pertaining to infrastructural developments, boundary walls, and the requirement of more land for expansion of the college, Rijiju assured to look into the needs after proposals are submitted by the state government to the Centre. The event was organised by the state legal service authority in collaboration with the law and justice department, the Papum Pare district administration, and the college, under the aegis of NALSA.
Judges from the Gauhati High Court, Justice Suman Shyam and Justice Nani Tagia, said that it is not the rule but the goal that matters, and many initiatives to address the woes of the people will come up outside the court’s domain. In his address, law and justice department advisor MLA Kento Jini highlighted the recent initiatives taken by the state government to empower the institution of gaon burha and exhorted those who turned up in large numbers to deliver justice without fear and favour as the lowest unit of the justice delivery system in our state is swiftest and accepted without cost. SLSA member secretary Yomge Ado and the principal of the college expressed their gratitude to all stakeholders for making the mega camp a successful one. Doimukh MLA Tana Hali Tara, officers from various departments, PRIs, GBs, and the public of Jote and adjoining villages also attended the function.
