ITANAGAR : Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Friday advocated for a suitable tea policy that will immensely benefit the small tea growers in the state to overcome all official hurdles in getting land possession certificates (LPCs) and NOC for establishing tea gardens.

Taking part in a short duration discussion brought in the house by Congress MLA Ninong Ering regarding issue of LPC for tea small growers in the state, Mein said that a few NGOs from the state moved the Supreme Court in 1999 against destroying forest on the pretext of tea cultivation in the state, saying that it was in violation of the apex court's order of 1996, banning timber operations.
