ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh unit of Janata Dal (United) has demanded that the state government must devaluated the remaining five and half subjects which come under 18 subjects of devolution of powers to Panchayati Raj Institutes (PRIs). Talking to media persons here at Arunachal Press Club (APC), president JDU Ruhi Tagung said in order to achieve the object as laid down subjects such as urban planning including town planning, reglation of land use and construction of buildings, roads and bridges, water supply for domestic, industrial and commercial purposes, public health and fire services should be devaluate.
It is important to mention here that to run municipalities/Urban Local Body (ULB) in the interest of common publics, rest subjects is to be devalued as without such power planning and execution of works in ground is being hindrance by several other government departments in regards to jurisdiction and functions of corporation, he added. Stating due to non devaluation of power relating to roads and bridges as mentioned in schedule 12 (twelve) subjects no. 4 of the constitution of India, Tagung said, "Corporation and council are facing serious problems and ambiguity of duties and roles,".
