Develop Sense of Competitiveness: Deputy CM Chowna Mein

Itanagar: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein urged the students to develop a sense of competitiveness.

Addressing the seventh annual college week of Doimukh College on Thursday, Mein while citing that there is limited scope for everyone to be accommodated in a white-collar government job, stated that it is high time that students must educate and skill themselves to compete and work in any part of the world.

Informing that the Pema Khandu government has brought in several administrative and financial reforms in the State the Deputy Chief Minister said that the government had also made the recruitment system fully transparent by creating the Staff Selection Board. “Now candidates will be selected purely on merit for Group C vacancies thereby giving no scope for backdoor entry,” he said and added that there is no dearth of young talents in the State and the need of the hour is to give them the right exposure.

He called upon the student community to preserve and promote the socio-cultural fabric of the State.

He said that the biggest challenge facing the young generations of the State is drug addiction and urged the students to keep themselves away from such addictions and also urged upon every responsible citizens to ponder upon it and to find a solution to the growing challenge.

Addressing the faculty members of the college, Mein said that with the privilege of getting government job by the indigenous tribal people as per the 80:20 reservation ratio, the responsibilities have also increased.

“We must shoulder this responsibility with sincerity and dedication as the future generations of the State is in our hands. It is our responsibility to mould them in the right direction and make them able persons”, he added.
