PASIGHAT: The BJP national general secretary Dilip Saikia attended the three days 2nd northeast zonal training program of state office bearers, district president and progressive farmers of northeast state held here on Sunday.

Addressing the gathering, Saikia said that the training program is a big institutional program in building professional workers in the field of farming. The program will facilitate training for the workers to be skilled professionals too.

He said in the year 2014, India had only a 1.98% skilled workforce. And a country like the United States had a 9% skilled workforce. However, today India has shown a rise of almost 10% in skilled workforces leaving behind many other countries.

"This increase clearly indicates that the government has worked a lot for the betterment of the progressive farmers. It was also possible because of the government's initiatives through various agricultural reforms and schemes to the farmers," he said.

Moreover, the free distribution of rations to the people of India as well as other countries during the Covid pandemic also shows that the agricultural reforms during the BJP government have not only benefited India but other countries too.

He said the training was first held in Kerala and now for the people of Northeast in Arunachal Pradesh. Hence, the participants should ensure that they learn from the program and accordingly implement it on the ground and also teach others.

Minister for Agriculture & Horticulture Tage Taki said that the idea behind the training is to provide technical aspects of farming to the farmers. Likewise to connect people from other states of the northeast so that they can share ideas on farming processes in their respective states for better outputs.

He requested the participants to share contact numbers and build relationships during the training program so that they can share ideas and the various processes of farming.

"As a minister, I have attended various national-level programs on farming where I have also repeatedly stressed the importance of and welfare of the farmers from Northeast," he said, adding that India shares 37% of GDP due to the farmers. This clearly shows the importance of farmers in the country.

State BJP president Biyuram Wage said that farming is not only confined to the farmers but also a learning process for every other individual. It is a backup plan during retirement to sustain livelihood.

He said the trainees should remain calm and attentive during the training. This discipline will lead to a great positive impact on the future course of life. It is through such programs that the idea of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat can be achieved.

"The idea of self-reliance has reached the success to a peak today with most people are not dependent on others. This was only possible due to the PM Modi-led BJP government in the country," he said.

Meanwhile, health minister Alo Libang said that the people of the Northeast are born farmers. Therefore, people are well aware of the importance of farming and its necessity in life for sustainability.

"Sadly, this was ignored and forgotten by the people for many years until the BJP government reminded it again. Today, the government is providing saplings, soil fertilizers to grow agricultural produce as well as export to other states," he said.

The three days training program which started today was also attended by national general secretary of BJP Kisam Morcha Dr Shambu Sharma, Kisan morcha state unit president Dunggoli Libang, Pasighat MLA Kaling Moyong and others.
