ITANAGAR: The District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) of Lower Dibang Valley district in Arunachal Pradesh conducted its governing council meeting on Friday, which was attended by Dambuk MLA Gum Tayeng, Roing MLA Mutchu Mithi, DC Soumya Saurabh, and other administrative officers. A brief report was presented on the DMFT, its aims and objectives, its scope of activities, projects undertaken in the district, and a plan of its activities for 2023–24. Addressing the meeting, Mithi appreciated and commended the projects taken up by the DMFT as they catered to the immediate requirements in the district and suggested a few projects that could be taken up to aid and improve the education and WCD sectors in the district.
In her deliberations, MLA Gum Tayeng requested the Geology and Mining Department to consider increasing the royalty exemption to 100 cubic metres from the present 30 cubic metres for villagers building their houses. The DC, while speaking on the occasion, informed about the various activities undertaken by the DTFI (District Task Force for Immunization) and stated that the priority is to meet the basic requirements in the education and health care sectors. She also said that work should be considered in a convergence mode with other departments.
