Donyi-Polo Day celebrated with traditional fervour at Hollongi Nyedar Namlo

Itanagar: Donyi-Polo Day was celebrated at Hollongi Nyedar Namlo (prayer centre) near here, by the followers with traditional fervour on Tuesday.

Arunachal Pradesh Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Mama Natung gracing the occasion exhorted the followers of Donyi – Polo to strengthen their religious identity and faith.

Responding to various demands by the Donyi-Polo believers, the minister assured to provide water supply facility and vehicle a for the prayer centre.

“I will ask the PHED executive engineer for immediate action regarding water supply and I will purchase a vehicle and hand it over to the Nyedar Namlo within a week,” Natung assured.

“Donyi-Polo (Sun and Moon) is the only god whom we can see every day and night, but due to lack of script and lack of written history, many believers have shifted to other religion. People should put concerted efforts to preserve tribal tradition and culture,” the minister said.

Natung added that the state government has already approved for creation of Doyi-Polo prayer centre in every district in the State.
