East Siang Additional Deputy Commissioner Discusses Measures to Eliminate TB

PASIGHAT: Under the chairmanship of the East Siang Additional Deputy Commissioner Tatdo Borang, the first meeting of District Tuberculosis Forum was held at the DC’s Conference Hall on Friday. Addressing the house, Borang stated that the DTO (TB) should continue the movement to mobilize all stakeholders to eliminate TB, making East Siang district a TB-free district. Borang emphasized the plan of action that ensures every TB patient has access to quality diagnosis, treatment and support adopting a patient-centric approach.

According to DMO Dr Kaling Dai, timely diagnosis, counselling and support could ensure proper treatment and complete cure. Sense of ownership and public participation was essential to contain TB, Dr said adding some heath tips. MS (BPGH) Dr YR Darang asserted that TB was absolutely curable and further shared tips for healthy living.

DTO(TB) Dr Siram through presented the key aspects of the RNTCP with a focus on the TB situation in East Siang and strategies for eliminating TB in the district.

He informed that the Central Government has set 2025 as the deadline for the complete elimination of TB. Among others, DMO Dr Kaling Dai, DTO (TB) Dr Taken Siram, MS (BPGH) Dr YR Darang, DRCHO Dr T Gao, Dr Kaling Jerang (pathologist), former ZPC Kaling Dai, doctors, medical staff and three cured TB patients attended the meeting.
