Eco-tourism, Angling Festival Commence at Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: The much awaited eco-tourism-cum-angling festival got off to a colourful start after its inauguration by Liromoba MLA Nyamar Karbak, at the confluence of Sii and Sibu River at Darak in West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. The MLA also made an inaugural catch of a mahseer, a costly, rare and endangered fish which is found abundantly in the rivers of Darak. Karbak while addressing the occasion, disclosed that the maiden festival is a step towards conservation of aquatic life for promoting tourism in this unexplored part of the state for rural employment generation and to raise economy of the people through tourism, an official communique informed here on Thursday. He assured to make it an annual event of the circle.

The annual sports carnival in his constituency is also a step towards spotting hidden talents and employment through sports.

He disclosed that power generation is also done from Siru Tali hydel for the first time through hydropower department after setting up division of the department for the first time which would look into its proper functioning.

He appealed everyone to shed differences come together to development fronts.

Attending the festival Tourism Director Abu Tayeng said that an amount of Rs 20 lakh has been earmarked to celebrate the festival and further assured more organized festival of its kind in near future.

He also assured plying of a Xylo vehicle from Liromoba to Aalo via Yomcha.

President of Arunachal Pradesh Tour Operators’ Association John Paye, President of Arunachal Anglers’ Forum Bengia Tayu and chairman of Young Mission Adventure Club Yomjum Yomgam dwelt at length on tourism promotion, angling in the state and employment generation through tourism, the communique added.
