Itanagar: The settlers of Choephelling Tibetan refugee camp at Miao in Changlang district on Saturday rescued a juvenile endangered male sambar deer from the camp area.

The sambar deer calf was handed over to the forest authority in presence of Namdapha Tiger Reserve Field Director Tapek Riba and members of the Society for Education & Environmental Development (SEED).

At around 9.20 am, the settlers of the Tibetan Settlement were surprised to notice a small and beautiful calf of buck (horn deer) who had suddenly rushed towards the settlement area and jump up the high fencing of the general ground. It seems that he was looking for his parents and blood was seen in the head.

A few settlers and students, who were playing in the ground rushed towards the calf to save his life. More than 25 people were assembled and were trying to save his life.

Women from the settlement brought empty sacks to cover the calf from cold after he was caught safely.
