BORDUMSA: Coinciding with the celebration of the 2566th birth anniversary of Lord Buddha here at Bordumsa's Gidding village in the Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, the Nyanaloka Welfare Society a local NGO, distributed much-needed support services to 15 cyclone-hit families of Bordumsda and its vicinity on Monday afternoon.
"CJI sheets along with water buckets and other gadgets of day-to-day utility were distributed among the selected cyclone victims on this auspicious day of Buddha Purnima," said Bhante Nyanaloka, the president of the NGO who has been tirelessly working for the poor and the needy people on a secular format. "We have built a bridge in Lohit and also distributed 30 tube well sets, besides donating blankets and other necessary services to the people of various locations in Bordumsa and Namsai too," said the monk.
"It was a long-felt service that finally reached to the affected people of 5 villages who had suffered massive damages in recent cyclones that had left a trail of destruction in multiple villages on April 14, 2022," said the monk, adding, "the distribution of the CJI sheets and other essential commodities could be possible only due to the generosity of Mother Monica Thaddey of Switzerland, who has been reaching out to God's children through her charity beam radiating across the globe."
Meanwhile, the local legislator Somlung Mossang, who was the chief guest during the celebration of the Buddha Purnima, provided support services to the needy beneficiaries who were turned almost roofless after the storm.
Earlier, during the celebration of the day-long programme to mark the auspicious day, the religious Buddhist monks threw ample light on the life and virtues of Lord Buddha in their addresses and enriched the disciples of the Buddhism and others attending the holy programme with the light of the Lord's preaching and ideals. Sunanda Singpho, acting as a resource person, illuminated the session with his speech centering around the Buddha Jayanti and its significance in present-day society.
Meanwhile, Somlung Mossang, the local MLA, in his speech urged the people in general to stick to their respective religions in true spirit for overall peace, fraternity and desirable social change. Claiming to have all sorts of information in regard to the people of Bordumsa-Diyun, the elected legislator said that all is not well in most of the families citing that "abuse of mobile phones have snapped many a relationship leading to undesirable family chaos. Spending quality time with the children and teaching them civic values is one of the ingredients to be religious in the true sense."
A three-point memorandum concerning civil works was also submitted by the organizers of the Dharma Sabha of the 2566th Buddha Jayanti celebration, upon which chief guest Mossang readily agreed to sanction two of them, keeping the third one for physical feasibility verification.
