BORDUMSA: Amidst diversity in approaches among different religions and it's denominations across the globe, all religions profess common virtues, way of life and impart common teachings, and all religions promotes to achieve the highest spiritual values and the underlying spirits of any religion is ultimately humanitarian services, peace, integrity and fraternity ', said Bordumsa -Diyun MLA Somlung Mossang.
Mossang -- popularly known for his secular outlook and charity works across the region -- was addressing the congregation of people as the chief guest on the occasion of the the silver jubilee celebration of the St.Michael Catholic Church here at the remote easternmost edge of Indo -Myanmer border near Pumao village Longding District.
' I have the proud privilege to state that being a true Christian of Catholic denomination, I am also able to secure the love, care and support of the people of general Bordumsa -Diyun seat because to me my religion teaches equally to respect other religions and rather patronize them for the growth and development of every body's faiths and religious sentiments '. Religion never teaches anyone to be intolerable towards others' faith and belief ' Let us profess ours while allowing others too to choose the way of life that others feel comfortable with', said the liberal leader.
The place primarily inhabited by people of Wancho community also shares common border with Assam and Nagaland on two of its sides while the immediate south touches Myanmer.
Mossang was accompanied by Tanpho Wangnaw the MLA 59 Longding -Puma Constituency who was the guest of honour along with DC Longding Bani Lego and R Khomrang the SDPO Kanubari.
Appreciating the generousity and secular outlook coupled with the leadership abilities of Mossang, the Longding MLA expected that Mossang would surely led the people of his constituency and come foreward working for the overall welfare of the people of Tirap -Changlang -Longding (TCL) region.
Addressing the gathering, one of the seniormost politicians of the state -- Tanpho Wangnaw said that there might be various denominations in Christianity yet the Christians stands and exhibits oneness and express solidarity towards all while contributing towards the overall development of Longding District and the state of Arunachal Pradesh as a whole. Wangnaw who has also been the traditional chief of the Senua Village stressed that peace, fraternity and universal beliefs must be always promoted for common good.
However, following the unveiling of the Jubilee Memorial Stone earlier by Mossang -- a dynamic Tangsa leader of the Tirap-Changlang-Longding (TCL) belt near the church site, the formal programme was marked by Silver Jubilee title songs and colourful theme -based group dances by the villagers. A souvenir published by the celebration committee was also unveiled by the dignitaries includung the two legislators of the TCL region.
Meanwhile Mr Lego the Deputy Commissioner of Longding appreciating the secular outlook of the people urged the people to come out of the clutches of drug addiction and take part in the COVID19 outreach vaccination programme and get themselves adequately vaccinated the achievment ratio of which according to him is one of the poorest in the state. 'Longding district ranks almost 7th ranks in terms of Poorest district in the state in', pointed the administrator.
As a part of the celebration agenda the committee headed by Janpho Wangnaw as the president also felicitated various dignitaries includung govt officials, Panchayat leaders, religious figures, school teachers and social activists.
The St.Michael Catholic Church was started by mere six young religious leaders of Longding area in 1995 at Senua village under the able guidance of Dominic W. Khangham, the then Catechist of Catholic Church Longding.
Pankhu Wangsu the BJP District President and Chamnga Wangpan, the BJP District General Secretary(organiser), Mrs P Wangcha the wife of local MLA Longding and Toklak Lego the wife of DC Longding were among the dignataries present during the three days long colourful celebration agenda (19-21 Nov 2021) silver jubilee celebration.
