ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pemas Khandu on Thursday urged the Airport Authority of India (AAI) to expedite the work on the ambitious Greenfield Airport project at Hollongi near here.
During a review meeting with AAI officials here, Khandu urged them to continue work on war footing to complete the project by 2022.
The review meeting was also attended by State Civil Aviation Minister Nakap Nalo, an official comminique informed.
The Chief Minister said the work must be carried out 24 hours a day to meet the deadline and said that the project once completed would bring in the much awaited air connectivity for the state capital.
Khandu assured the AAI of all cooperation for the work to continue unhindered.
In another review meeting on the status of highway in the State during the day, Khandu took a review of all the completed, ongoing and proposed road projects in the State.
He also took review of the works on four-lane Itanagar-Naharlagun highway and on the status of all the sectoral roads around the state capital.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein was also present in the meeting. Directing the department to expedite work on four-lane highway between Itanagar and Naharlagun, the Chief Minister also assessed the extent of damage on it due to recent floods.
He further assessed the damage on the sectoral roads in the Itanagar capital region caused by the landslides due to the recent incessant rain.
Khandu asked the works department to immediately execute work on restoration of all sectoral roads in the capital region damaged by the recent flood.
He also asked the department to develop cost-effective innovative methods to minimize damage of roads due to landslides, the comminique added.
