ITANAGAR: Itanagar police have seized 86 fake job applications and money received agreement on Non-Judicial Stamp papers during the investigation into a fake job racket in Directorate of Health Service (DHS), Naharlagun.

Speaking to the reporters, Itanagar Capital Region Superintendent (SP) of Police Jimmy Chiram informed that after receiving an FIR from the Director of Medical Education (DME) regarding fake appointment letters allegedly issued by DME with its seal and carrying their forged signatures on January 20 last, an FIR (No. 05/22 u/s 120-B/419/420/468/471 IPC) was registered.

He said the police swung into action and an SIT was formed to investigate the case. The SIT team arrested two people in connection with the fake job racket on Tuesday last, the SP said.

"Jogen Saikia and Sangeeta Bansal have been arrested so far by the police. Bansal has been working as UDC in the DHS, Naharlagun whereas Saikia is the person who received money from the candidates. During the interrogation, the duo revealed the names of one more alleged accused Taw Peri, who is still evading arrest," he added.

He said Jogen Saikia and Sangeeta Bansal have promised to provide jobs to the candidates in lieu of money.

"House search of Sangeeta Bansal revealed many incriminating pieces of evidence, including the seal on the fake appointment letter, but she herself had fled to Delhi," he said.

The team from Naharalgun Police station reached Delhi to arrest her, but she left Delhi via Rajdhani on the same day.

Acting quickly, the team flew to Patna and intercepted the Rajdhani and arrested the accused Sangeeta from Hajipur Station, Bihar. Another accused, Jogen Saikia, was arrested from Gophur, Assam and search for the third accused, Taw Peri, is still on, he added.

Chiram also informed that, office seals used, fake appointment letters, money agreements and lists of candidates have been seized from. Moreover, indications of transactions ranging from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 40 lakh have been found.
