Farmers witness Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Launch of NADCP

Itanagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) for eradicating the foot and mouth disease (FMD) and brucellosis in the livestock from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, which was witnessed by 66 progressive farmers at Khonsa, the headquarters of Tirap district in Arunachal Pradesh.

The programme is aimed at vaccinating over 500 million livestock including cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats and pigs against the disease. It will be implemented for a period of five years till 2024 at a cost of around 13000 crore. In a formal official programme organised at Khonsa by the animal husbandry & veterinary department in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Deomali, District Veterinary Officer (DVO) Dr Poddar highlighted details about artificial insemination and vaccines besides FMD and Brucellosis was discussed with the farmers, an official communiqué informed.

The PM also launched the National Artificial Insemination Programme during the event and Babugarh Sex Semen facility.
