JAMUGURIHAT: Eminent Xatriya artiste and Satradhikar of Kamalabari Grihasthi Satra, located at Barabhuyan Village, Sootea, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by Assam Sanskritik Mahasabha on Sunday in a conference held at the Madhabdev International Auditorium of Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra. Assam governor Gulab Chand Kataria graced the award distribution ceremony as a chief guest and handed over the lifetime achievement award.
Goswami was born in Kamalabari Xatra, Majuli, and did his Bisharad degree in Bharatnatyam from the Bhatkhande School of Music and Indian Folk Dance, respectively. He also attained training in Xatriya dance from Kamalabari Xatra, Majuli. He is acquainted with dance, music, classical dance, and Xatriya dance, besides Khol badan (playing Khol). Presently, he is holding the post of principal of Naduar Sangeeta Vidyapeeth. He has been awarded the artistes pension by the state government in 2016 and the Kalaguru Award.
