Government Committed to Quality, Inclusive Education: Chowna Mein

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Monday reiterated the State Government’s commitment to providing quality, affordable and inclusive education for all while prioritizing strengthening the education sector in the State.

Attending the inaugural day of the 40th annual College Day celebration of Dera Natung Government College here, Mein appealed to the students to engage equally in study, sports and cultural activities to achieve holistic personality development.

“Students should dedicate themselves to the duty of studies to bring about fundamental changes in society,” Mein said and called upon the student community to acquire skills and knowledge to succeed in as today’s highly competitive environment.

He also advised the students to inculcate the reading habit and make best use of the library at the college campus.

The Deputy Chief Minister praised the college for raising the educational standards in the capital.

Highlighting the importance of conserving one’s culture and identity, Mein urged for educating the younger generation to ensure the value of culture and heritage is preserved.

He expressed serious concern over the youths leaning towards drug abuse. He said that drug abuse can be completely eliminated with good moral values and awareness among youth.

“Our teachers and parents have a great impact on students so they should make them conscious about the ill effects of drugs,” he pointed out and appealed to all to wage a war against drug abuse and illicit trafficking to make the State free of the drug menace.

In response to a memorandum submitted by the college students union, the Deputy Chief Minister assured to look into their demands.

Earlier, Chowna Mein made a NCC parade inspection which was followed by display of parade by NCC contingent and house troopers. He also ignited the Olympic torch to begin the annual College Day.
