Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (retd) Dr BD Mishra on Tuesday called upon the people to protect, preserve and promote their cultural heritage and advised the youth to actively participate in celebration of indigenous tribal festivals. Participating in the Chindang Festival celebration at Nafra, 53 km from Bomdila in West Kameng district, the Governor while extending his festival greetings, expressed his hope that the festival would usher-in development, peace and prosperity. He commended the festival committee for organising the 28th Central Chindang Festival in a grand manner.
Mishra said that the development depends on two aspects, which are very much in the hand of the people. First, education and second proper implementation of developmental programmes and projects, he said.
He called upon the elders of the society, parents and guardians to ensure that every child of the age of 6 years and above goes to school.
Emphasizing on the education of girl child, the Governor said that society progresses when women are educated, empowered and respected. He stressed on making every girl child capable of standing on her own feet, a press release informed here.
