ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lieutenant General K T Parnaik called upon the people on Thursday to adopt environmentally friendly practices to save energy and water, reduce single-use plastic, adopt a sustainable food system, and adopt a healthy lifestyle. Participating in the ‘Mission LIFE: Lifestyle for Environment’ mass mobilization programme at Raj Bhavan here, he advocated for an urgent need to come together and take ‘Lifestyle for Environment’ forward as a campaign to become a mass movement towards an environmentally conscious lifestyle. The governor appealed to the people of the state to become ‘Pro Planet People’, so that they could ensure a safe and sustainable future for generations to come.

Parnaik also administered the ‘Lifestyle for Environment’ pledge to the participants on the occasion, as a Raj Bhawan communiqué informed here. The governor, while stressing cleanliness, emphasised on ‘Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle’ practices by every citizen. He also suggested the use of public transport, CNG and electric vehicles, solar appliances, and biogas to prevent air pollution. Earlier, Arunachal Pradesh region centre Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) officer in charge Dr. Santabala Gurymuym informed that in the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26), Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Mission LiFE, on November 1, 2021, in Glasgow, calling upon the global community of individuals and institutions to drive LiFE as an international mass movement. State Environment and Forest Minister Mama Natung, along with officers and scientists of the department, ZSI, Botanical Survey of India (BSI), and G. B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment, participated in the programme.
