NAHARLAGUN: Minister for Health & Family Welfare Alo Libang formally launched the Telemedicine Hub at Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Science (TRIHMS), here on Friday.

Speaking to media, Libang informed that the Tele-consultation services will be enabled using through e-sanjeevani, a doctor to doctor/nurse telemedicine system for Ayushman Bharat-Health Wellness Centres (AB-HWCs) and e-sanjeevani OPD by Ministry of Health &Family Welfare.

"As of now, Health & Wellness Centre (HWC) Mahadevpur in Namsai district, Wakro in Lohit, Hunli in Dibang Valley and Maro in Upper Subansiri district has been connected with the service," he said.

Libang informed that it is a pilot project where a Doctor will give consultancy and also prescription if required to the patients with electronic generated signatures through Nursing officers and other Health officials.

"Our plan is to connect all the HWC of the state, so that patients or health officials would get real-time expert advice and help," he said, informing that they will also work on the connectivity issues like VSAT services, which will be installed in gram Panchayats levels.

Earlier, the minister also interacted with patients availing Tele-consultation services from Community Health Centre (CHC) - Mahadevpur in Namsai district and HWC Siluk in East Siang district.

Briefing more about the Telemedicine Hub, Director TRIHMS Dr. Moji Jini said that as of now the service will be only for Doctors and health officials. However, there is a plan to expand the service where patients can directly contact Doctors through an audio-video app.

He said that the doctors and the specialist will be available for consultation in the hub and patients visiting HWC will be facilitated to avail Tele-consultation service by health wellness officers or nursing officers.

The service will be provided Six days a week from 9 am to 2pm, he added.

Meanwhile, state nodal officer- Telemedicine Dr. Nabam Peter informed that the project is funded under National Health Mission (NHM) and is a pilot project to provide telemedicine services in remote locations of the state.

He also informed that the project was funded through the Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF) under direct supervision of the Chief Secretary.
