ITANAGAR: A six-room SPT house of Kindi Modi was gutted and several household assets worth lakhs of rupees were lost in a fire on Saturday night at Napit village near Pasighat in the East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

However, no human casualty was reported.

According to the victim, the cause of the fire was an electrical short circuit and the house has been totally reduced into ashes.

The Fire brigade reached the spot and doused the blaze with the help of locals.

The victim claimed that along with domestic belongings, cash of Rs 1,10,000 and traditional ornaments worth more than Rs 4 lakh were gutted by the fire.

Meanwhile, district disaster management officer (DDMO) N Tayeng visited the site Sunday morning to assess the losses, an official communiqué informed here.
