BANA (SEPPA): Remembering the great freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for Independence on the 75th Independence Day celebration, Minister for Environment & Forest Mama Natung called on the people of his constituency to be 'Aatma Nirbhar'.

Addressing the gathering of people at Bana general ground here on Sunday, Mama Natung said that to develop the district, the people of East Kameng should be self- reliant from the village level, and to do so, people should cooperate and support each other.

He said, "The people of our district have the potential to excel in the field of handicrafts, agriculture and horticulture. The government departments have the responsibility to create awareness on various State and central schemes so that the people make the best use of it," he said.

Speaking on development works executed in the district and State, Natung said, "Though there have been minimal development work executed in past two years due to COVID-19 pandemic, the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu has made major boost in health sector. Today we have the best hospital facility in the district with specialist doctors and sophisticated modern equipment. We are well equipped to deal with any future pandemic with ease."

Natung said that the State Government, besides improving the health sector, also emphasized on various other sectors to improve the standard living quality of the people. He said that his dream to make the 11 Seppa West Assembly Constituency an educational hub had been almost accomplished with the establishment of Rama Krishna Mission School, Agriculture College at Watte and EMRS, for which the work would be started soon. He added that the State Government had also allotted fund for the establishment of Agriculture College at Watte.

Likewise, Natung also spoke on various other aspects to develop the district. Concerned over the hardship faced due to the lack of perennial mode of transportation in repairing electricity line damaged repeatedly due to natural calamity in various locations of the constituency, Natung donated a vehicle to the Department of Power to overcome the issue.

Later, Natung also felicitated various self-help groups and individuals for their contribution towards cluster farming, social works and also distributed prizes to the Independence Day Volleyball champions.
