BORDUMSA: A mini marathon' Run for Fun' was organized by the Bordumsa based 14 Assam Regiment wing of Indian Army here at Bordumsa in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday morning.
The event, which was organized as part of Swarnim Vijay Varsh, was flagged off by Officer Commanding Captain Teerath Singh at Bordumsa general playground amidst significant gathering. The mini marathon covered 5-km distance from the playground to Galenja Christian Mohong and vice versa. It generated mammoth response following the participation of 135 school students from various schools of Bordumsa.
Ranjit Newar, Biraj Konwar and Mukesh Chetry emerged 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the male category reaching the target in 17.21, 18.20 and 20.04 minutes respectively while Diya Tamang in the female category won the race in 26.04 minutes. Anjali Tamang and Neha Tamang completed the race in 26.07 and 26.09 minutes respectively.
The winners were awarded with cash prizes, certificates and medal in the playground ceremonially wherein the army official reiterated that the event aimed at promoting the spirit of bonhomie and creating awareness among the citizens about the ongoing year-long celebration of the resounding victory of the Indian Armed Forces in the 1971 Indo-Pak War.
