Indian Mountain Initiative (IMI) Delegation Calls On Pema Khandu

Itanagar: A delegation of the Indian Mountain Initiative (IMI) led by president Sushil Ramola and secretary Fantry Mein Jaswal called on Chief Minister Pema Khandu at New Delhi on Tuesday and congratulated him on assuming the office. During the call on, the delegation discussed with the Chief Minister on the need to incorporate issues of the Himalayan States in the Fifteenth Finance Commission (FFC) recommendations to incentivise the mountain states for enabling them to provide ecosystem services. The IMI delegation made a presentation to Khandu on interventions necessary on areas such as disaster management, expanding green coverage, reducing erosions, enabling the mountain states to cope up with influx of tourists etc.

The Chief Minister assured all support of the state government to IMI and for necessary cooperation with all the CMs of the 11 mountain states of the Himalayan region to deal effectively with the unique challenges these region face, an official communique informed.
