NAHARLAGUN: A State-level media sensitization workshop on “Intensified Mission Indradhanush” (IMI) 2.0 was organized by the department of National Health Mission (NHM) near here on Tuesday. While addressing media persons, Medical Officer (MO) for immunization, Tage Taka said that the drive will provide vaccines for tuberculosis, meningitis, measles, hepatitis B, tetanus, whooping cough, poliomyelitis and diphtheria. However, Japanese Encephalitis (JE) will also be provided under the scheme in certain select areas, he added.

He also informed that all the vaccine will be provided free of cost to the children at all public health facilities under the government’s universal immunization programme. These vaccines are secure and don’t have any side effects, it will be provided by the trained nurses,” Taka added.

Meanwhile, consultant of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Bijay Dungdung highlighted on the topic “Social & Behaviour Change Communication and Strategy Base on Socio-Ecological Model”.

Later, the organizing members held a meeting with all the religious groups to impart awareness to parents so that they can turn up for immunization on the mentioned date.

Through this programme, Government of India aims to reach each and every child up to two years of age and all those pregnant women who have been left uncovered under the routine immunization programme.
